Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, city commissioners and Police Chief John Mina were in attendance as the construction process for the new Orlando Police Department Headquarters began on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014.

Friday was the first day of training for Orlando City Soccer Club. The training sessions are held at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford.

The team will play its first home game on March 8 against New York City FC at the Citrus Bowl, with a number of events marking the historic occasion planned for the preceding week.

Fans gathered at Church Street late Thursday afternoon and marched in procession to the site of the groundbreaking, located on the northwest corner of Church Street and Parramore Avenue.

Artegon Marketplace is at the site of the former Festival Bay, located at 5250 International Drive.

Festival Bay, which opened in 2002, was sold to new developers in 2011 who decided to take the property in a new direction by leasing retail space to local artists. Existing tenants Bass Pro Shops and Ron Jon's Surf Shop will remain, along with a few other retailers, as Artegon Marketplace is built out in phases. An area known as The Village features 165 shops filled with handcrafted goods and foods.
